I'm sure you've all heard of the New Horizons Pluto Flyby. If you haven't, well, it must mean that you aren't living with my boyfriend. He has been counting down the days until July 14th: the day that the New Horizons space probe gets to it's closest approach to Pluto.

He has now been counting down for One. Entire. Year.

But have you seen the new picture?? The closest we have been to Pluto, and the photos are unreal! There is the new closeup on the mountains and the one that makes it look like there is a heart on Pluto. It is an exciting time for space.

Time to celebrate this historical day. Maybe with pie??

Easy Pie Crust

But before you make pie, you need a killer, flaky pie crust. And if that is what you are looking for, you have come to the right place.

This might be one of my favorite pie crusts to make! Reasons being:

  1. It is ready in under 10 minutes
  2. You don't need to bring out your rolling pin!
  3. If the dough tears, who cares? Just patch it up with some more dough, and you are good to go.
I have made 2 pies in the past 3 days with this pie crust (coming up later!!) so you KNOW it's good. And if NASA comes up with some better photos of Pluto tomorrow, well. I think that would call for another pie. Don't you agree?

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the flour and the salt.
  • Add in the water and oil, and mix until fully combined. Form into a ball.
  • Grease your pie pan, and place the ball of dough on top. Punch down the ball, and spread the dough to cover the pie pan (I used a quiche pan), pressing the dough up around the sides of the pan.
