Vanilla Bean Paste

You don't need to buy Vanilla Bean Paste anymore when you can make it at home. Homemade Vanilla Bean Paste is the perfect ingredient to add to the pantry.

Vanilla Bean Paste

This was made because I have never tried vanilla bean paste, and I somehow couldn't justify buying a jar myself.

So whenever I would see vanilla bean paste on a recipe that I really wanted to make, I would just pout and not make it.  Because I thought that there was some vanilla bean recipe club and I wasn't invited. Even though it's really my fault I wasn't making these recipes. My irrational brain forgot that the quickest fix to start making these recipes is to actually buy a jar of the stuff.

Vanilla Bean Paste

Or is it??

I am always super excited to see a recipe for something that would be quicker to actually make  at home than going out to the store to buy it. So you couldn't imagine my delight to find this recipe for vanilla bean paste. Because I had all of the ingredients in my house. All three ingredients!

Vanilla Bean Paste

You seriously can't find a recipe easier to make than this one. All you need is: vanilla beans, vanilla extract and maple syrup (or agave nector). That is it!

The equipment may be the one thing you might not have. I suggest a good quality food processor, a fine mesh strainer and a mason jar to store it all in. All the products I use for this is linked under the recipe.

You will be sure to see more recipes using this paste to come. Possibly (but most probably) in cookie form!

What a great way to save some money. I also tend to not make things because I don't have the special ingredient that I refuse to buy.

  6. I wouldn't even know where to get that. I was thinking maybe Stevia, the cooking variety. But that's a powder.

  7. I've never heard of vanilla bean paste until I looked at a recipe just now for oatmeal with my new Crockpot Instapot. Actually, the recipe called for vanilla paste. Now I'm tempted to make it. But I only have Hawaiian vanilla beans (VERY EXPENSIVE) that are already soaking in vodka for another batch of vanilla. Do you need to get a high quality bean for this recipe? How do you store it after making it and how long does it last?

    1. No, you do not need to use a high quality bean for this recipe.
I kept mine in the fridge but it didn't last long because I put it in everything!! But I think that it could last up to a year.

      1. Thank you. I probably will not use it that much. I don't bake sweets and we try not to eat sugar very often. My husband has RA and it's always a battle to keep our weight down. There is also the thing about agave nectar being very high in fructose.

      1. I have only ever made it with agave nectar, but you can try other substitutes like Vegetable Glycerine. Let me know if you try it out!

  8. Haha, I would just substitute with vanilla extract whenever I saw vanilla bean paste! But, whoa!!! I totally did not know it was so simple to make at home. I need to make this and vanilla sugar!!
