This easy Peppermint Bark recipe is just made with 5 holiday ingredients. This classic holiday treat makes a great holiday gift.

As my kids start getting older, I want to start some holiday traditions with them. I have already bought a whole bunch of holiday cookie cutters to make Christmas cookies with them. But if that proves to be too difficult for a 1 and a 4 year old, maybe we will make this classic Peppermint Bark as our Christmas tradition.
The peppermint flavor mixed into the rich chocolate layers makes this the perfect Christmas dessert. I love a quick and easy no bake recipe over the holidays, so this recipe will be a staple for Christmas. I think that next year, I will get my oldest to make it all by himself. I’m sure that he will love that.

Peppermint Bark Ingredients
This homemade peppermint bark recipe is made with just 5 simple ingredients. All you need is:
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
- coconut oil
- peppermint extract
- white chocolate chips
- candy canes
Equipment
- 9×9 inch square baking pan
- aluminum foil
- medium microwave-safe bowl
- silicone or offset spatula

Tips
Storage: Store peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. You can also store it for longer in the fridge. Just note that the crushed candy cane pieces may start to get sticky if they are stored in the fridge.
Don’t have candy canes? Any peppermint candy works. Just wrap the peppermint candies in parchment paper, then using a rolling pin, roll over the parchment paper until the holiday candy is crushed into pieces.
Try a different type of chocolate. Instead of semisweet chocolate chips, try making a milk chocolate or a dark chocolate layer, depending on how sweet you want it. For the white chocolate layer, you could also replace that with vanilla almond bark.
Melting the chocolate: I like making the melted chocolate in the microwave in a heat-safe bowl, mixing in 30-second intervals to make sure the chocolate doesn’t burn. You could also use the double boiler method by filling a pot with hot water, and placing a bowl on top with the chocolate you want to melt. Make sure that the bottom of the bowl fits over the pot and won’t fall in.
