I think that the best part about the holidays is the cartons of eggnog at every grocery store. There is nothing quite like creamy eggnog to get me into the holiday spirit.

Back when I lived in Toronto, I used to have a local Starbucks around the corner from my house. And back then, I used to buy a hot Eggnog latte every morning during the holiday season. But not that I don't live walking distance from a Starbucks, I am craving my favorite eggnog drink this time of year. In all honesty, I think that this version of the Starbucks Eggnog latte recipe might be even better than the Starbucks version. Plus, I don't need to venture out into the cold to make the long trek to my local coffee shop when I can make my favorite coffee drinks at home.

You can bet that I am going to be swapping out my morning coffee with this latte on Christmas morning. I love that you don't need a fancy espresso machine to make this cozy drink.

Eggnog Latte Ingredients

This homemade latte is made with just 4 simple ingredients. All you need is:

  • strong brewed coffee
  • your favorite store-bought eggnog
  • whole milk
  • pinch of nutmeg

Equipment

A clear mug full of Eggnog Latte, with the frothy milk topped with ground nutmeg.

Tips

Don't have a handheld milk frother? You can use a mason jar in a pinch. Just pour cold eggnog into the mason jar, then microwave until warm. Cover the mason jar, and shake the warm eggnog until frothy.

Make it vegan. You just need to substitute the eggnog and milk with vegan versions. There are many vegan eggnog options in grocery stores, or you can make your own. Instead of whole milk, try using coconut milk or oat milk. You can use a thinner milk like soy or almond milk, but the drink won't be as creamy.

Making the hot coffee: I like making the coffee either in a french press or an aeropress. This way, you can control how strong you make the coffee. Make sure you make the coffee stronger than you would typically drink. You can also use instant espresso powder.
