Do NOT judge these cookies by their cover. I assure you they taste magical.

These cookies were created because I have a problem. When I go into a grocery store, down the baking aisle, I always get a strange compulsion to buy all the baking ingredients. Like, I have no recipe in mind, I just want to buy them.

And since I somehow opened my shopping bag and found some molasses inside, I thought that I needed to find something to put it in.

Enter these Molasses Chocolate Chip Cookies. Now I know that they don't look so great, being all flat and all, but they taste divine! I wasn't going to post this, but I liked them so much that I thought it would be a shame NOT to post them.

Plus, you know. I need more cookie recipes in my life.

Well, my philosophy is never judge a book by its cover. The most amazing looking recipes can taste like -- well I won't say it. Your cookies look and sound delicious. I like using molasses and just because a cookie is flat does not make it unappealing. And I'm a bit like you, I go to the grocery store and see the potential.

I love chocolate chip cookies AND I love molasses cookies, so making this recipe is definitely going onto my to do list. I don't think these cookies look especially flat. I think they look perfect. In fact, I'm salivating thinking of them. (Imagine me wiping drool off of my chin, and swallowing.) This is a great idea. LOVE IT!

Ha, you and I have the same problem at the grocery store. I have an opened can of molasses myself and have been looking for recipes to use it up. It is not that easy to find a recipe that's not somehow Christmassy. Your cookies however are perfect for any time of the year! LOVE the look of them.

  10. LOL. I do the same thing when I`m in the baking aisle. I bought a jar of molasses to make muffins MONTHS ago, but I still haven`t made those muffins! Haha. This is a good recipe for me to save in the archives.

  11. My grandmother used to make molasses cookies when I was little. They were her favorites and mine too. But other people I know don't care too much for them—I don't understand that at all!??
