Helpful Tips

Storage: Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you wanted them to keep longer, store in the fridge for up to 7 days.

Use a cookie scoop for a more uniform cookie form. I use a medium cookie scoop, which helps give each cookie its classic round cookie shape.

Using other type of oats. The only reason I use quick oats in this recipe is because they produce more soft banana oatmeal cookies. If you wanted chewy banana oatmeal cookies instead, use either rolled oats or steel cut oats. It all depends on your personal preference.

Variations

Switch up the mix-ins. If you want a sweeter cookie, try adding in some white chocolate chips. But if you wanted a healthier cookie, swap the chocolate chips for dark chocolate chips. You can also use your nut of choice, such as walnuts or almonds.

Swap out some of the ingredients for healthy ingredients. If you wanted breakfast cookies on the healthier side, swap out the ¼ cup sugar with maple syrup. You can also replace the butter with peanut butter or almond butter to ramp up the protein content of these chocolate chip banana oatmeal cookies.
