My Ninja Creami ice cream maker has been saving me so much money on ice cream.

Granted, it is quite the initial investment. But since I used to do a weekly grocery trip just to buy store-bought ice cream, I am probably just about even after having this machine for almost 2 years now.

One of my favorite ice creams to buy at the grocery store was chocolate chip ice cream. Something about the vanilla ice cream base and chocolate chips scattered throughout always got me coming back for more. And this Ninja Creami Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is just as good if not better than the ones you can buy at the stores.

Tips

Make it vegan. You will need to do a couple of swaps. Use vegan cream cheese and chocolate chips. Instead of regular milk, you can swap it for coconut milk or unsweetened oat milk. I've found more watery milks like soy and almond milk to give the ice cream too many ice crystals. In place of the cream, you can use unsweetened coconut cream.

Add in your favorite mix ins. The best part about this recipe is that it is a great ice cream base for whatever mix-ins you want to add in. When adding the mix-ins, make sure to make a wide hole in the center of the ice cream that that goes down to the bottom of the pint. That will make sure that whatever you are adding to your ice cream gets evenly distributed.

Save the leftovers. If you have any leftovers, make sure to flatten them in the pint container. Then place storage lid on top and freeze until you are ready to use it again. When you want to eat the ice cream, select the ice cream function on your Ninja Creami and process it as usual.

Don't have half-and-half? You can use heavy cream. I don't really notice too much difference in texture between the two, however there is a risk of making the texture feel like eating butter when using heavy cream if you don't incorporate the cream mixture into the sugar mixture slow enough.
