It is one month away from my oldest son's birthday.

So in preparation for his birthday, I am thinking up as many birthday themed recipes that I can. And recipes filled with sprinkles, because he is obsessed with rainbow sprinkles.

Tips

Experiment with different flavor extracts. There are endless flavor possibilities with this ice cream recipe by just swapping out the extract. Vanilla extract is classic, but try also using almond extract or peppermint extract for a different take on this recipe.

Make this recipe vegan. Instead of half and half, use vegan half and half, and replace the milk with almond milk. Instead of using the ice cream button, you may need to use the lite ice cream setting.

Can I use heavy cream? You can replace the half and half with heavy cream if you like. I just notice that sometimes, the texture of the ice cream when using heavy cream is like butter, whereas half and half produces a creamy texture every time.
