Today, I want to talk about someone who is really important to me. Someone who never wants to push her way into my life, but is always there when I need help. That person is my lovely mother.

I can't imagine what my life would be without her love and support. She always stressed the importance of sharing, and would always give up her desserts for me. Maybe she was the catalyst behind why I'm so eager to share my desserts with all of you.

She also might be the reason why I actually liked vegetables as a child. I remember when I was really young, I saw a commercial on TV about washing your hands. It said "wash your hands before you eat, then you'll get a real big treat" and it showed the kid in the commercial getting a bunch of marshmallows. Then it said "if you don't wash your hands, you won't get a real big treat" and the kid was given asparagus. The kid tried giving it to the dog, and even the dog didn't want it. And even at 5 or 6, I was offended by this. Every time I saw that commercial, I would say "I would WAY rather have the plate of asparagus! Give it to me!"

So to my mother, and mothers everywhere, thank you.

And to my invisible friends in the Blogosphere, if you don't know what to make your mom for brunch/lunch/dinner, I would recommend starting with some roasted asparagus. So easy to do, and super delicious.

  1. My mom was the same way - I grew up loving fruits and vegetables. Thank goodness she taught me some really healthy eating habits!

  2. Hehehe, your little story is so cute 🙂 My mother also instilled a love of vegetables in me! I think adults only don't like veggies because they never had them prepared well growing up...ok maybe this isn't true for everyone. Roasting asparagus is totally the only way to go. It's so quick, delicious and the cleanup is a breeze if you line your pan with foil!
