What is the latest viral snack trend?

I think that I am months behind the latest viral recipe, but it's better late then never.

When I first saw this recipe idea, it was marketed to be a healthier alternative to ice cream. Obviously, I was skeptical because I love a good ice cream, and I just didn't think that yogurt would cut it. Let me tell you, I was wrong. This Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Bowl is just as good as ice cream, with the chocolate topping and sweet strawberry jam. I am finding myself making this for myself more often than I am reaching for ice cream for dessert. And that is really saying something.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Bowl Ingredients

You only need 4 simple ingredients to make this easy recipe. All you need is:

  • plain Greek yogurt - can use flavored yogurt if you prefer
  • strawberry jam - any other jam would work too
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips - or any type of chocolate you like
  • coconut oil - butter also works

Full list of ingredients with measurements is in the recipe card at the end of the post.

Tips

Enhance the strawberry flavor. If you wanted more of a chocolate flavor, use strawberry Greek yogurt and add some fresh, chopped strawberries.

Swap out the plain yogurt. Personally, I like plain Greek yogurt for the yogurt mixture in this bowl. But vanilla Greek yogurt or any other flavor that you like would also be a great treat.

Making the chocolate shell: You need to be careful when melt chocolate chips. They often have a tendency to burn, so make sure you put them in the microwave for 30-second intervals (or less), then stir for a couple of minutes after to see whether the chocolate is melted or not.

Use a different type of chocolate. Dark chocolate chips are so good on top of this, but you could also use white, butterscotch or milk chocolate if you like.
