Coffee lovers, I have a drink for you!

I have been craving a chocolate cake lately. And, not to toot my own horn, I have the best chocolate cake recipe ever on my blog. Like, boxed cake mix who? It is such a moist cake, I could eat the entire cake in one sitting. But this morning, I was thinking: not that kind of cake. I want to try having a drinkable cake. In the form of a mocha.

This Cake Batter Mocha is such an easy recipe, I think that I am going to be making it every morning from now on. We finally are on Spring Break at my school, which is one of the first breaks we are having in a long time. So I'm going to make the most of it with slow mornings, and this mocha.

This might be my favorite recipe for a mocha that I have made in a long time. Usually with 2 small kids running around, I end up drinking my coffee a couple of hours later. But I get so excited to drink this mocha that I usually drink the whole thing in one sitting. It is seriously magic.

Cake Batter Mocha Ingredients

This mocha kind of tastes like a chocolate mocha cake recipe that you can drink. All you need is:

  • strong brewed coffee (I love using dark roast)
  • chocolate sauce
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • milk
  • cake batter flavor
  • whipped cream
  • sprinkles

Tips

Replace fresh coffee. If you don't have fresh coffee, you can always use instant coffee or instant espresso powder mixed with hot water.

Don't have cake batter flavor? Personally, I think that this is the secret ingredient that really makes this mocha exceptional. If you can't find it in the grocery stores, you can always buy it on Amazon. But you could try using vanilla extract for a more vanilla cake taste. If you wanted a stronger coffee flavor, try using coffee extract.

Type of cocoa powder: I used to use natural cocoa powders for all of my recipes, but then a company sent me a really good quality dutch-process cocoa powder and now I am hooked! It has a much stronger chocolate taste, taking this drink to the next level.
