- Can you make it ahead of time? Honestly, I wouldn't. It is already easy enough to make that it will only take around 5 minutes of your time. The hardest part about making a mug cake is waiting for it to cool slightly. But if you wanted to make it for a crowd, you can definitely make it ahead of time.
- Can you make this in the oven? No. This recipe was specifically designed to be made in the microwave.
- Can you use self-rising flour? You can, but the consistency will be different. I personally prefer this recipe using regular all-purpose flour, but if self-rising is all you have it will still work!

Servings: 1 mug cake
Ingredients
- 5 ½ tablespoon all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoon milk
- 3 tablespoon avocado oil
- 10 blueberries
- sparkling sugar
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients except for the blueberries and sparkling sugar into a microwave safe mug until mixture is smooth.
- Carefully fold in the blueberries. Sprinkle top with sparkling sugar.
- Microwave for 1 ½ minutes and see if it’s done. If not, microwave for an additional 30 seconds.
