Ever since I saw the viral recipe for baked oats on TikTok, I haven't been able to stop making them. I mean, who could resist a healthy cake-like breakfast? It's an understatement to say that I am obsessed.

But whenever I look for a baked oatmeal recipe, they all use ripe bananas. And with my 2 year old eating all of our bananas, I always run out by the time I want to make some.

So this Cake Batter Protein Blended Baked Oats recipe is a game changer. Now you can have a healthy bowl of oats with a cake-like texture in under 30 minutes. Who can resist a healthy cake for breakfast?

Cake Batter Protein Blended Baked Oats Ingredients

You just need 9 simple ingredients to make this baked birthday cake oatmeal. All you need is:

  • rolled oats - you can also use quick oats or oat flour
  • milk of choice - dairy or non-dairy milk both work well
  • baking powder
  • cake batter flavor - you can use vanilla extract as well
  • egg - you can replace it with a chia or flax egg if making it vegan
  • vanilla protein powder - can use chocolate protein powder if you want it more like chocolate cake
  • sprinkles
  • white chocolate chips - or you can replace with milk, semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Tips and Variations

Make it vegan. Replace the whole egg with a flax egg, and the milk with a plant-based milk. When making blended oats, I find that the best milks are oat milk, cashew milk or coconut milk because they are the creamiest. Unsweetened almond milk and soy milk would work too, but it won't taste as rich.

What to use for blending. I find the best way to blend all the ingredients is using a single serve blender. If you have a good quality high-speed blender or food processor, that could work. However, your oat mixture may have some large chunks of oats remaining.

Experiment with different flavors. I have switched this recipe up so many times using my favorite flavors. Use different protein powder flavors, or swap out the sprinkles and white chocolate with your favorite toppings.
