Do you know anyone who hates feta?

Well you don't need to look very far. My whole family except for my dad HATED feta. We just could not get on board. I didn't like cottage cheese, and feta cheese reminded me of the traumatic experience in my school where we had to drink cottage cheese smoothies.

To this day, I shudder at that memory.

With my dad's insistence, we went to more and more Greek restaurants, and I have come to love the taste of feta cheese. Not so much cottage cheese, unless it's pureed and put in pancakes. But give me spanakopita, Greek salad and feta crepes any day, and they will be gone within seconds.

I should dub myself the feta fiend from now on.

This week I had a ridiculous craving for feta. I'm not one to have cravings, but this one came on hard and strong. So while I'm throwing tubs of feta into my shopping cart thinking about what I can make with it, I see that eggs are on sale. Eggs. On sale! When does that ever happen?

That is when I decided, there and then, that I was to make a quiche. Because quiche might be one of my favorite types of food to make. It's so easy, but it tastes so good! Especially the leftovers.

One of my favorite combination of ingredients is spinach and feta. The first time I tried these two ingredients together is when I bought a spinach and feta crepe at a restaurant in Vancouver. Ever since then, I went back to that restaurant multiple times to order the exact same thing: the spinach and feta crepe.

This Spinach and Feta Quiche is the next best thing. But all this talk of spinach and feta crepes is making me want to make some...

  1. I love feta, but could definitely see how the intense tanginess can be off-putting to some people. But to each his/her own! This quiche sounds great to me!

  2. Hi Cathleen, cottage cheese smoothies sound very interesting......though I know for sure I would love this quiche!

  3. I LOVE feta so, so much. It's basically salty, creamy goodness. So, this looks fabulous to me! I'm not a big fan of cottage cheese, though, and I think a cottage cheese smoothie sounds like an absolute nightmare!

    Sues

  4. I really like your quiche, feta is my absolute favourite 😀
It works really well with spinach, so I wouldn't mind trying it for lunch soon!

  5. What a lovely quiche - feta and spinach are two ingredients that go together so well - and your quiche looks very pretty!

  6. Cathleen, I'm afraid I am not a fan of feta. Had it once in a Greek salad. eeekkksss... but that's just me. But if you added bacon in your quiche, I might change my mind LOL!

  7. Mmm you can never go wrong with quiche!
I loved your little stories, haha 😛 I never was one for cottage cheese until a few years back, but now I love the stuff 🙂 I remember making cottage cheese in class in primary though, it was all very exciting 😛

Feta is sooo tasty! I am having a vegetarian week at home for the week coming, and was considering doing it like vegan + egg (I can't live without eggs!) but then I remembered cheese, was defeated and boom - soft cheese and parmesan into my basket landed, oooops! It's only a week challenge, and if you can rattle up something like this - I sure don't mind!

Thanks for this recipe! I made quiche not too long ago, but I will keep this combination in mind until next time 😀 I hope you've had an epic weekend! x

  8. Is cottage cheese smoothie that awful? It sounds pretty good to me.
I love the quiche as I adore both spinach and feta.

  9. Cottage cheese SMOOTHIES?! What kind of school did you go to??? Unlike that terrifying concoction, this quiche sounds amazing! I love anything spinach and feta is the way to go 🙂
