S'mores Mug Cake
Easy S'mores Mug Cake recipe. This single-serving dessert idea will help satisfy your chocolate cravings in under 5 minutes.
It is a particularly hot summer. So what's better than a warm mug cake on a warm day? And because it's the summer, I am making a S'mores Mug Cake.
This mug cake is the perfect dessert for the summer. Not only is it no bake, it is ready in 5 minutes so it will satisfy any sweet craving that you may have instantly.
The combination of the chocolate cake base with toasty marshmallows.. this has to be the perfect single serve dessert if I say so myself.
S'mores Mug Cake Ingredients
This mug cake recipe is made with mainly pantry staples, so there is no excuse NOT to make it. All you need is:
- all purpose flour
- unsweetened cocoa powder
- white sugar
- baking powder
- whole milk
- vegetable oil
- vanilla extract
- chocolate chips
- large marshmallow
- crumbled graham cracker pieces
Tips
Make sure you are using microwave-safe mug! Microwaveable mugs will help prevent prevent uneven cooking. Oftentimes, if you use a coffee mug that is not microwave safe, the sides will overheat while the center of the cake will be undercooked.
Keep an eye on the mug cake in the microwave. Because mug cakes have a tendency to boil over, you need to watch it in the microwave. I recommend cooking it in 30 second intervals, or stopping every 20-30 seconds to allow the mug cake to deflate a little bit. Then continue to cook in the microwave.
Variations
Make it vegan! You would just need to change the milk to dairy free milk, and make sure that both your chocolate chips and marshmallows are vegan. I love using either oat milk or almond milk, but any non-dairy milk option works.
Make it Gluten Free: All you need to do is replace the flour and graham crackers. I've found that this gluten free flour is the best substitute for all-purpose. And any gluten-free graham crackers or graham cracker crumbs that you can find would work great in this recipe.

S'mores Mug Cake
Ingredients
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoon milk
- 3 Tsbp oil
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
- 3 large marshmallows
- 1 sheet graham cracker, crushed
Instructions
- In a large microwave safe mug, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar and baking soda until combined. Add in the milk, oil and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips and microwave for 1 minute, or until the center of the cake is set.
- Place the marshmallows on a baking sheet and broil for around 20 seconds.
- Place the marshmallows and crushed graham crackers on top of the mug cake. Allow to cool slightly before eating.
We made them as desserts for family night abd they were a huge hit. Everyone loved the gooey s’mores mug cakes abd they were such a breeze to make.
