Easy Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Waffles recipe. Made with a can of cinnamon rolls, this easy recipe is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
I was craving some of my favorite cinnamon rolls that I usually get from my local grocery store over the weekend. But unfortunately, that night my 10 month old baby was having a hard time with sleep. Which means that I was also having a hard time with sleep. So there was no way that I was going to leave my house, since who knows if I would be able to keep my eyes open in my car without at least 3 cups of coffee.
I thought that I would make just some regular cinnamon rolls at home. Until I remembered how much time and effort goes into making cinnamon rolls from scratch. So I started looking for recipes for easy cinnamon rolls. But the “easy” cinnamon rolls I was finding wasn’t quite the “easy” I was looking for. Until I remembered that I had a can of cinnamon rolls in my fridge! So I thought that I would make some epic cinnamon roll waffles with them.
I can’t believe that this worked! These Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Waffles might be my new favorite way to enjoy canned cinnamon rolls. These delicious cinnamon roll waffles are perfect for your next holiday breakfast or brunch, or just a special Saturday morning.
Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Waffles Ingredients
These easy cinnamon roll waffles are so low maintenance, there is really no excuse not to make it. All you need is:
- Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (including the cinnamon roll icing)
That’s it!
Equipment
- mini waffle maker with nonstick coating (or any waffle iron with deep pockets, such as a Belgian waffle iron)
Storage and Freezing
In the fridge: Store any leftover waffles without icing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
In the freezer: First, allow the waffles to cool at room temperature. Then place cooled waffles in a freezer bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to use, either microwave for around 10 seconds or (my personal favorite) place frozen waffles in a toaster and toast until heated through.
Tips
Heat waffle maker before you add the cinnamon roll dough. This should go without saying, but if you add the dough or batter or whatever you are using to your waffle maker before heating it up, it will cook unevenly. Make sure it is fully heated before placing the dough in your waffle iron.
Make your own cream cheese icing. Instead of using the Original icing that comes with the cinnamon roll dough, make your own! I particularly love this cream cheese glaze recipe.
Use homemade cinnamon roll dough. While I am always too lazy in the morning to make flaky cinnamon rolls from scratch, if you prefer you can definitely make it that way!
Add additional toppings. If you want these waffles to be sweeter, or if you ran out of glaze, try drizzling the top with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
Use a waffle iron with deep pockets. Using a Belgian waffle maker makes all the difference with these cinnamon roll waffles. Belgian waffles typically have deeper pockets, so that more of the topping can get trapped in the waffle. This is perfect when you want more cream cheese icing on your waffles!
