The peanut butter and chocolate combo is probably one of my favorite combos ever. I buy peanut butter cups on the regular, and love having them as a sweet treat during the day. This Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate tastes like a melted peanut butter cup, so you know that it's good!

I have been making this hot chocolate every night for the past week, it's so good and easy to make. Definitely a new favorite drink around here!

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate Ingredients

This indulgent hot chocolate recipe is so easy to whip up, and is made with 4 basic ingredients, plus water. All you need is:

  • white sugar - can also use brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • unsweetened cocoa powder - not hot cocoa mix
  • hot water
  • whole milk - or your favorite milk
  • creamy peanut butter - can use regular or natural peanut butter

Tips

Make it vegan. You just need to swap out the hot milk for a non dairy milk. Some great plant-based milk options that I love in this recipe are: oat milk, cashew milk and coconut milk. You can use soy milk or almond milk, but it won't be as creamy as I usually like my hot chocolate to be.

Add your favorite toppings. Some of my favorite things to top this hot chocolate with are: homemade whipped cream, melted homemade peanut butter, melted milk chocolate or peanut butter chips and some semisweet chocolate shavings.

Double the recipe. This recipe is for a single serving of hot chocolate. You can double, triple or even quadruple this recipe depending on how many drinks you want to make.

Do not use crunchy peanut butter. This will leave little peanut chunks at the bottom of your drink. Smooth peanut butter works best in this recipe.
