Easy Maple Hot Chocolate recipe. This comforting drink is rich and decadent, it tastes like liquid dessert.

I went to a math conference the other day. Boy what a day that was. It was incredibly fun to say the least. It lasted the whole day, but when it was over I was exhausted!
What better way to end the day then by sitting down with a warm cup of hot chocolate while reading a good book? Since summer started, I am actually reading books that are NOT math! It’s very refreshing, but when I finish the book I am currently reading, I won’t know what to read next! Any suggestions would be much appreciated 😉

So all those who don’t know what the typical day of a Canadian is, let me clue you in: We wake up in our igloos, and walk a few steps to out make-shift kitchen to eat some poutine and drink a large mug of maple syrup, then go out to ride our polar bears to work.
So when I found this recipe online I thought that I HAD to make this, since I am not a typical Canadian, and have never drank a cup of maple syrup. This is the closest I will get.
(For all those who were wondering, I’m totally joking. We are normal up here, I swear)

Maple Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 large marshmallows, cut into slivers
- whipped cream
Instructions
- In a small saucepan on medium heat, mix all the ingredients together. Do not allow to boil. Remove from heat when the marshmallows are melted.
- Pour into a mug, and top with whipped cream. Drizzle some extra maple syrup on top

You must live in a different part of Canada than I do, because it's 30 degrees here today! (I have also never had a mug of maple syrup.)
I loved your post and your recipe! So glad you pointed out your location because I'm in southern CA and it is hot. I was thinking, "who's drinking hot chocolate on a day like today?" 🙂
This is a revolutionary idea – I add the goodness of maple in everything so this is a must try 😀

I love homemade hot chocolate, and I love your idea of adding in maple syrup! Try hot chocolate with a sprinkle of chili powder or cayenne next time… It's not spicy, it just adds a really interesting flavor to it! You can also try cinnamon too.
I was totally in the mood for and iced coffee…until I read your post. Looks perfect!
