Can being stressed literally make you sick? Because I have been nauseous for the past couple of days.

So if I can't get my fruits and vegetables down in solid form, you can bet that I'm going to be drinking them up in a smoothie.

Now before you go running to the hills because I added kale to this smoothie, just hear me out. Even I was skeptical about adding kale to smoothie. And I freaking adore kale. But when I have some kale and strawberries in the fridge that needs using... well, I can't have any waste now can I?

My boyfriend just threw out perfectly good milk the other day, so I feel like I need to salvage everything I have in the fridge.

And now...the verdict on my first ever experience with kale smoothies???

I LOVE them!! Why have I not made them before?

I have tried more than my fare share of spinach smoothies, but I think that kale is going to end up in my regular rotation of fruit smoothies.

And it is almost summer y'all! I am predicting a huge surge in the amount of smoothies being made in my kitchen in the upcoming weeks.

Partly because it has suddenly become SO HOT here (like shorts weather (!!!)) but mostly because I still don't have time to do any baking lately. I think morning baking will be where it's at in the remaining month (!!) of school.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups baby kale
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into two glasses, and serve immediately.

  1. Nice blend of two ingredients. But I thought I heard somewhere that raw kale can cause thyroid problems? Not sure. I'll try this sometime maybe with blanched kale

  2. I love smoothies and kale is one of my favorite greens. I actually juice a lot of kale as well as other greens.

  3. I made a smoothies everyday before I walk out the door to go to work and I add kale to it too. I started drinking smoothies to help with inflammation in the body, and to get more fruit and berries in my diet. I started drying my kale and keeping it in a jar because it ruins before I use it all. This works great. Now I just need to find a good veggie smoothie so I can get more veggie in my diet.

  6. I put spinach in my smoothies all the time mostly because it is easier than kale. We have kale in the garden already so I'm sure you see some soon in a post - love this combination!

  7. I, too, adore kale.. but I have never thought of adding it to a drink. That is genius, if you ask me! I bet the kale with strawberries, in smoothie form is delicious! I'm definately going to be trying this! Thanks for sharing!
    P.S. Stress can, and will, cause you to get sick. I've never been good at managing stress and it has caused me to be ill a lot. I hope whatever is stressing you out gets resolved and that you feel better soon!! Cheers!
