I don't know about you, but I am a peanut butter fanatic. And a chocolate peanut butter lover.

Peanut butter is always a part of almost every meal. I am so lucky that I am not allergic to it. So last night when I was craving some Reese's peanut butter cups, I made these classic peanut butter bars. And do you know what? They are basically peanut butter cup bars. Everything you love about a peanut butter cup in a small square. Or a big square, depending on how you cut it.

My husband is already requesting that I make these Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares again next week. They are quickly becoming one of our favorite recipes, and I know that you are going to love them too.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares Ingredients

You just need 5 simple ingredients to make these no bake chocolate peanut butter bars. All you need is:

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 cups icing sugar (also called powdered sugar)
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 ¼ cup peanut butter, divided
  • 1 ½ cup chocolate chips

Tips

Storage: Store these no bake peanut butter bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days. You can also store them in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Only have graham crackers instead of the crumbs? Don't worry! This happened to me the other day when I was craving these bars. You can place 14 sheets of graham cracker crumbs into a food processor until you get fine crumbs. If you don't have a high powered food processor, just place the graham crackers into a large freezer bag. Then roll a rolling pin over the bag until the graham crackers form fine crumbs.

Variations

Switch up the chocolate in the chocolate layer. Typically, I will use semi-sweet chocolate chips for the chocolate topping. However, milk chocolate or white chocolate chips would work in their place as well.

Try different spreads for the peanut butter filling. I always use creamy peanut butter, but you can use chunky for the thick peanut butter base. I wouldn't suggest using natural peanut butter, since it is a little bit more runny and the peanut butter mixture won't come together as nicely. But almond butter, cashew butter or even cookie butter would be great substitutes.

Add some toppings to celebrate different holidays! I love adding themed sprinkles every time it is a holiday season. Either red and white sprinkles for Valentine's Day, crushed candy canes for Christmas, or your favorite team colors for Super bowl Sunday. The best part about these bars is just how versatile they are.
