This is our new family trail mix. It is hard to find a snack that both my husband and my kids love. But this Cranberry Chocolate Almond Trail Mix is definitely going to be coming with us on road trips and picnics from now on. I love a sweet and salty combo, and this trail mix is the perfect blend of sweet cranberries and chocolate covered almonds with salty peanuts and almonds.

Honestly, I can't believe I have never made trail mix at home before. It is so easy to make, and you can control the total sugars and total fat by choosing quality ingredients. I love adding in more almonds and peanuts to boost the amount of healthy fats in this trail mix. And since my whole family loves this trail mix so much, I always have a bag of it in the pantry for quick and easy snacking.

Cranberry Chocolate Almond Trail Mix Ingredients

This chocolate cranberry almond trail mix is only made with 4 ingredients. All you need is:

  • chocolate almonds 
  • whole almonds
  • peanuts
  • dried cranberries

Equipment

  • large bowl

Tips

Storage: Store any leftover trail mix in an airtight container (like a large ziplock bag or a Tupperware container). Store in a cool and dry place for up to 1 month.

For longer storage: ​Store the trail mix in the fridge for up to 6 months, and in the freezer for up to 12 months.

Add in your favorite mix-in. ​Since I love chocolate, I will often add white or milk chocolate chips to the mix. Some coconut flakes or some additional nuts would be good too.

Allergic to tree nuts? Replace the almonds with sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds.
