I'm starting to see watermelon appear in the grocery stores, and I couldn't be more excited.

My two kids love fresh fruit. If I bring home any type of fruit it will be gone in under 48 hours. Honestly, half of our grocery bill must be spent on fruit. This Watermelon Sorbet Ninja Creami recipe is a game changer when it comes to thinking up desserts for our two boys. It is the perfect healthy sweet treat that I know they will both love.

This would actually be a great recipe to make for Memorial Day weekend. I am already planning ahead for what I am going to be making, and this is such a refreshing treat for the summer months ahead.

Tips

Storage tips: you can store any leftover watermelon sorbet in either the pint containers or ice cream storage containers. If you leave it in the Ninja Creami containers, you process it again when you are ready to eat it on the sorbet setting. If you store it in other containers, you need to leave it out at room temperature until it begins to soften again.

Make different fruit sorbets. If you aren't a huge fan of watermelon, try making a honeydew sorbet or a cantaloupe sorbet. Instead of the diced watermelon, replace it with honeydew or cantaloupe chunks.

Replace the lemonade. If you don't have lemonade, replace it with either fresh lime juice or fresh lemon juice and your sweetener of choice. I personally like maple syrup, but honey or white sugar works too. Even though ripe watermelon has natural sweetness, the freezing process mutes the sweetness quite substantially, which is why I recommend adding some sweetener of your own.

Don't be afraid of using the re-spin button. If you notice that it looks too icy, use the re-spin setting until it gives a more creamy texture.
