I have a confession to make: I have never bought pork chops before in my life.. until this month.

Not that I have anything against pork. I make my slow cooker pulled pork at LEAST once a month, and it never fails to disappoint. The thing is, whenever I go grocery shopping to buy meat, I almost always reach for the chicken or the ground beef. They are familiar, easy, and I have SO many recipes that use them. BUT, I finally broadened my horizons and bought some pork chops. And then these Baked Breaded Pork Chops were born.

This is such an easy recipe for juicy breaded pork chops, and you can make it any night of the week. It makes for easy weeknight dinners, and a great recipe to make on the weekends too.

One tip I would suggest with these baked breaded pork chops is to make sure that the pork chops aren't too fatty. I accidentally bought some with fat on it.. boy, it wasn't a pretty scene. The outsides were wet, the breadcrumbs mushy.. and it hid the chewy meat that, let's be honest. We don't really want to eat that.

All in all, I think I can usually get small pork chops for a little under $5. Seems like a dinner win to me, both financially and taste-wise.A new family favorite for sure.

Tips

Storage. Store these panko pork chops in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

What type of pork chops to use. I personally love using boneless chops, but you can also use bone-in pork chops if you prefer. Just know that you will need to adjust the bake time based on if you have thicker pork chops versus thinner chops.

How do you know the pork chops are done? Make sure you check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. Place the instant-read thermometer in the thicker portion of the meat. If the internal temperature reads 145°F (or 62.8°C) then the breaded chops are done.

Variations

Add some more spice for extra flavor. If you find that these pork chops don't have much flavor, you can add in some dried or fresh herbs to the bread crumb mixture. I love adding some black pepper, Italian seasoning and onion powder.

Switch out the breadcrumb mixture. If you don't have seasoned bread crumbs or panko crumbs, you can use plain bread crumbs or even crushed corn flakes. Just know that if you use either of these, you will need to add more spices to the breading mixture. You can also replace it with shake n bake.

    Well... consider yourself added to my blogroll. I have like six other blogs I read on a weekly basis, guess that number just increased to seven! Keep writing!

  3. My family would definitely love this lunch idea, Cathleen. I will definitely prepare this dish for them. What kind of milk do you usually use?

  4. The breading on these pork chops looks delicious! My husband and I actually eat a lot of pork, especially thin cut, bone-in chops. They are yummy on the BBQ or cooked in BBQ sauce in the oven on low heat. I haven't made breaded pork chops in a while, but this recipe is definite inspiration to make them again!

  5. That's too funny! I don't eat pork chops a lot, but when I do I always think 'why don't I eat these more often?' You're right....they are really inexpensive and especially tasty when they're jazzed up with some yummy bread crumbs for texture and flavour. Great recipe!!

    That's too funny that you've never bought pork chops until now, but definitely can't tell with this recipe! These chops look delish! I love breaded ones too so will be trying this recipe next week 🙂

  7. Pork chops are a tough one!! Growing up my Mom would essentially always use the same recipe so that was really the only one I was comfortable with too! These look great! Anything breaded is totally delicious 😉

  8. sameee. i've only bought chicken thighs and ground beef, and even so, i don't really like cooking meat (i don't like the feeling of squish under my hands). so i can't say i've ever cooked pork chops either! but i love how flavorful this breading sounds (give me allllll the parm), so maybe i'll have to be adventurous soon (;
