This Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie makes a regular appearance for breakfast at my house. Made with spinach, strawberries and oats.

The worst thing about my “good intentions” of buying fresh spinach is the fact that after one salad, I forget about the remaining spinach in the fridge until it goes limp and slimy. Please tell me that it’s not only me.
But with this Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie, I think I can say goodbye to my slimy spinach problem, and hello to some good-for-you smoothies. Also, any recipe that can use up my one ripe banana is a winner for me. Am I right guys? Bon appetit!
Typically when I want a smoothie, I will throw whatever I have in my fridge and freezer into a blender and pulse until smooth. And that is exactly what I did with this smoothie.
This recipe is extremely versatile. If you don’t have strawberries on hand, switch it up with another fruit that you do have. Or leave it out completely! It will taste amazing any way you blend it.

Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie Ingredients
You just need a couple of simple ingredients to make this strawberry banana spinach smoothie recipe. All you need is:
- baby spinach
- frozen strawberries
- frozen banana
- milk
- vanilla
- oats
That’s it!

Tips
Mix in some chia seeds or hemp seeds to add some more protein. Adding a tablespoon of either chia or hemp seeds will not only add a couple of extra grams of protein, it’s a great way to increase the healthy fats and dietary fiber in this drink.
If possible, use a high-powered blender. While a regular blender could work, it is a lot harder to get the smooth texture that you are looking for in your fruit smoothies. A high-speed blender helps break down the frozen fruit a lot easier.
If you are using fresh fruit: you will need to add in some ice cubes. Fresh strawberries and fresh banana tend to be quite watery, so to obtain the thick texture of your typical smoothie, add as much ice as you need.
Variations
Make this strawberry spinach smoothie vegan. Instead of using regular milk, switch it up for your favorite plant-based milk. Some dairy free milks I love in this recipe are cashew milk, oat milk and coconut milk. Almond milk and soy milk work as well, but I find that it tends to make the smoothie more watery.
Ramp up the protein content. Adding in a scoop of plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt), protein powder, or some peanut butter is an easy way to add in some protein.
