Oranges will forever remind me of the holiday season.

My grandmother used to tell me stories about how oranges were a real treat back in her day, and she would get one in her stocking every year and savour it. So as a tradition, every year my dad would get an orange, then he passed down the tradition to me and my siblings.

Since this is Evan's first Christmas, I am going to pass the tradition on to my kids too.

Ever since having this baby, we have been ordering a lot more takeout than usual.

What do you need to make this Orange Ground Chicken?

I love an easy recipe, and this one is about as easy as they come. All you need is:

  • oil
  • ground chicken
  • fresh ginger
  • garlic
  • chili paste
  • orange juice
  • soy sauce
  • sesame seeds
  • green onions

That's it!

Orange Ground Chicken

Easy Orange Ground Chicken recipe. A quick and simple weeknight dinner idea using fresh orange juice.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • sesame seeds to garnish
  • green onions to garnish

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium hear. Add in the chicken and cook until chicken is fully cooked.
  • Add in the ginger, garlic, chili paste, orange juice and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce to a simmer for around 3-5 minutes, or until reduced and thickened.
  • Remove from heat and serve with rice. Top with sesame seeds and green onions and enjoy!
