Tips and Tricks

This recipe uses Teriyaki sauce. However, you need to buy the thick Teriyaki sauce. If you get the thin sauce, it won't have the proper texture and coating that makes this dish extra yummy.

This recipe also makes great leftovers. In fact, I think the leftovers may even be better than when it is fresh. Perfect to take to work or school, you are going to love the convenience of this recipe.

One of the main issues people face when making this is removing the lid in step 5 when cooking the rice. Resist the urge to check on the rice, even if you are convinced that it is done (it is not). If you uncover the rice, the steam will escape and the rice won't cook properly. Trust me on this, my husband has made this mistake so many times when he tries to make this recipe without me.

I loved the idea of spicing things up a bit, but I left the red pepper flakes as a garnish because my son doesn't like spicy yet 😉 We the adults loved the spicy kick!
