Fruit and Vegetable Smoothie Bowl recipe for a healthy breakfast. This green smoothie is made with frozen avocado, spinach, apple, pineapple and banana.
Today was the first day of Autumn. Weather wise of course, but it came way to early for my liking. I walked to the gym this morning in shorts and a tank top thinking it was going to be blisteringly hot, but I was shivering by the time I reached the gym. That being said, I am not ready to give up on summer just yet!! So when I got back to my house, I made this Fruit and Vegetable Smoothie Bowl. I needed to put on a sweater and sweatpants while eating it, but still! I’m going to call this the transitional phase.
I know that a lot of people have very STRONG opinions about smoothie bowls. Some people absolutely love them and eat them all year round, and some people hate them with a fiery burning passion. I went to a food blogging conference a while back, and there was this woman who hated smoothie bowls so much, to a point where she would unfollow anyone who posted a smoothie bowl on Instagram. She didn’t understand how anyone could eat a smoothie bowl for breakfast with all of those chia seeds on top. And also, why make it look pretty? It is only going to end up in your stomach anyways.
To be honest, you can criticize all food on food blogs with the same argument. What is the point of making the food so pretty?? To be honest, it is all for the viewer’s benefit. I would be fine with showing you a bowl of my gruel looking oatmeal, but then no one would make it, would they?
So anyways, all that to say that I am taking that risk. If you don’t like my smoothie bowl, I am risking having you unfollw me. And that is okay. Because I am one of those people who adores smoothie bowls. I used to have it for breakfast almost every morning. Until I discovered how great oatmeal was. Also, I am always cold, so oatmeal just made sense.
But every once in a while, when I want to treat myself, I will make a smoothie bowl. It is only a treat because I really hate cleaning out my blender. And now that I’m living alone, I can’t just leave it for someone else to clean up.
However, if you live in Toronto and want to wash my dishes in exchange for food, hit me up 😉
What you need to make Fruit and Vegetable Smoothie Bowl
All you need is:
- avocado
- banana
- spinach
- pineapple
- apple
- milk
- toppings you like on smoothie bowls
That’s it!
But in the meantime, I will keep smoothie bowls to a bi-weekly event.
I also don’t spend a long time trying to make my bowl look perfect. As long as I have SOME toppings on the bowl, I am a happy camper. I will always sprinkle the top of my smoothie bowl with chia seeds and coconut flakes, but you can also use granola, fig bars, berries, hemp hearts.. the sky is the limit.
Now to pull out my sweaters and long pants. If fall is really starting this early, I need to be prepared.
