Since John is here and I still have 2 VERY large boxes full of chocolate and candy, I am pretty sure I am made up of mostly candy right now. Candy, burgers and fries.

Our agreement to eat healthy while we are apart came undone as soon as his plane landed in Toronto. We are making the most of this week of indulgence, which means it will be back to normal when he goes back to Vancouver tomorrow.

Now, it is time for me to come up with healthy snacks.

Coming up with healthy snacks is very hard for me to do. Actually, coming up with healthy peanut free snacks is what is hard. I want to bring my healthy snacks to school because I am always hungry throughout the day. But I can't bring trail mix or most granola bars because of the nuts.

Popcorn is what is saving me from near starvation in my nut-free school.

Maybe a little dramatic, but it is definitely keeping me healthy. Before I would reach for a chocolate bar or a pack of gummy candy. But now that I made my eating healthy promise to my husband, I have been making this popcorn more and more.

If you saw the title and thought "what the heck is nooch?", I am totally with you. A couple of months ago, I started following a bunch of healthy accounts on my Instagram and they were all talking about how much nooch they put on their foods. And how a veggie bowl is made 10x better with nooch. I needed to use the old Google to figure out what the heck nooch was, and how I could get my hands on some.

To save you the trouble of going on Google yourself, Nooch is what the cool kids call Nutritional Yeast. Actually, I think more people should start calling it nooch, because nothing about the word "Nutritional Yeast" sounds appealing to me. Certainly not something delicious to sprinkle on top of food.

But if you would just give it a try, I promise, you will be converted too.

When I asked my sister about whether or not she's heard of Nutritional Yeast before she goes: Nooch? Oh yeah, I have been making Nooch Popcorn for a while now! It is so good.

Nooch Popcorn?? Somehow almost everyone I know has been making Nooch Popcorn for their go-to snack, and here I was in the dark. I had no idea it was so popular!

So in case you are like me and had no idea this snack existed, here is a super simple recipe so that you can fit in with the cool kids. Just make sure you never mention you put yeast in the popcorn. 😉 Nooch popcorn all the way.

  1. I love homemade stove top popcorns. It's one our favorite family snack. Love how you made this healthier by using coconut oil. I bet yeast gave so much flavor. I must try this.
