White Chocolate Nutella Mug Cake Ingredients
You just need 5 simple ingredients to make this easy Nutella mug cake recipe. All you need is:
- Nutella
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- whole milk
- white chocolate chips
That’s it!
Tips
Make sure you use a microwave-safe mug. This is important, as some mugs that aren’t suitable for the microwave will overheat and not cook the mug cake all the way through. This could result with a cooked cake on top and an undercooked cake at the bottom of the mug.
Use a large mug or small bowl. Do not try to do it in a smaller mug, because the top of the batter expands when in the microwave. If your mug is too small, your batter will overflow.
Make sure you wait for the mug cake to cool. The first time I made a mug cake, I tried eating it straight out of the microwave. Big mistake. You will burn the top of your mouth, and not be able to taste anything for the rest of the day. I would suggest you wait until the cake is almost at room temperature before you take a bite.
Variations
Switch up the chocolate chips. If you have more of a richer chocolate craving, try folding in some dark chocolate, semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips into the chocolate cake batter.
Add in some fresh fruit. I think fresh berries make the perfect pairing with white chocolate. Strawberries or raspberries are my favorite, but experiment with your personal tastes!
Make this mug cake vegan. If you wanted a vegan version of this cake, you will need to substitute the Nutella and the milk. For the Nutella, use your favorite vegan chocolate hazelnut spread. For the milk, you can substitute any non dairy milk, such as oat or soy milk.
