No need an espresso maker to make this Caramel Mocha. This drink is easy to make, it is the perfect way to enjoy your morning coffee.
This Caramel Mocha rivals the mochas that you buy from your favorite coffee shops. At this point, I have honestly stopped buying drinks from coffee shops because it is so much easier and better making it at home.
Lately, I have noticed that if I DO buy drinks when I’m at a local cafe, they are far too sweet. But when I make them at home, I can adjust the sweetness, and how much coffee I actually get in my drink.
I have found myself making this drink both in the morning and a decaf version at night. It is so versatile and easy to make, there is really no excuse NOT to make it. And even though it is summer, I am finding that I am craving those caramel flavors of the fall more and more. While I still want to hold on to the last months of summer, I say bring on the fall flavors!
Caramel Mocha Ingredients
This caramel mocha recipe is made with just 5 ingredients. All you need is:
- hot coffee
- caramel sauce
- cocoa powder
- whole milk
- whipped cream
Tips
Making the coffee: Make sure that you make a really strong coffee. It is especially important to get a strong cup of coffee. I love using either a french press or an aeropress so that you can make a strong, individual sized cup. It is also a lot easier to add more coffee for a stronger cup in those devices.
Replace the coffee with espresso. I don’t have an espresso machine, so I will use strong coffee most of the time. However, you can also make espresso shots either in a machine or by using espresso powder.
Make a salted caramel mocha. Instead of using regular caramel sauce, use salted caramel sauce. Then sprinkle some coarse salt on top of the whipped cream.
Do a vegan version. To make this drink vegan, you will need to replace the milk, whipped cream and potentially the caramel sauce to vegan versions. My favorite milk to use is oat milk because if gives that creamy taste, but cashew or coconut milk work well too. I wouldn’t recommend almond or soy milk just because it will taste fairly a little watered down.
