Easy Oven Baked Breaded Pork Chops made with flour, breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese, this is perfect for a weeknight dinner.
I have a confession to make: I have never bought pork chops before in my life.. until this month.
Not that I have anything against pork. I make my slow cooker pulled pork at LEAST once a month, and it never fails to disappoint. The thing is, whenever I go grocery shopping to buy meat, I almost always reach for the chicken or the ground beef. They are familiar, easy, and I have SO many recipes that use them.
BUT, I finally broadened my horizons and bought some pork chops. And then these Baked Breaded Pork Chops were born.
This recipe has got me questioning why I have never bought pork chops before. If you were like me, let me enlighten you.
Why buy pork chops?
First of all, they are so freaking cheap! I am always amazed at how cheap the meal as a whole comes out as when pork chops are involved.
Second of all, it isn’t fatty and has less calories than your typical meat. Plus it packs on a good amount of protein.
And lastly.. well.. it tastes good! At least, I love making it in the oven and breading them like this. I may have recipe tested this a lot more than I really needed to. But I really couldn’t help myself when they are this good!
One tip I would suggest with these baked breaded pork chops is to make sure that the pork chops aren’t too fatty. I accidentally bought some with fat on it.. boy, it wasn’t a pretty scene. The outsides were wet, the breadcrumbs mushy.. and it hid the chewy meat that, let’s be honest. We don’t really want to eat that.
All in all, I think I can usually get small pork chops for a little under $5. Seems like a dinner win to me, both financially and taste-wise.
The only thing I hate about making breaded anything is the breadcrumbs remaining after you finish all of your pieces! But don’t worry. As a result, I have made a recipe for you coming up soon so that you can avoid wastefully throwing out perfectly good breadcrumbs and Parmesan, while getting a cute little appetiser out of it. Stay tuned!

heather (delicious not gorgeous)
sameee. i’ve only bought chicken thighs and ground beef, and even so, i don’t really like cooking meat (i don’t like the feeling of squish under my hands). so i can’t say i’ve ever cooked pork chops either! but i love how flavorful this breading sounds (give me allllll the parm), so maybe i’ll have to be adventurous soon (;

I am the exact same way with the squish!! You totally get me 😉

Pork chops are a tough one!! Growing up my Mom would essentially always use the same recipe so that was really the only one I was comfortable with too! These look great! Anything breaded is totally delicious 😉

Hah! I’m glad I’m not the only one with discomfort when it comes to meat!

That’s too funny! I don’t eat pork chops a lot, but when I do I always think ‘why don’t I eat these more often?’ You’re right….they are really inexpensive and especially tasty when they’re jazzed up with some yummy bread crumbs for texture and flavour. Great recipe!!

It’s weird right? My fiance is asking me to buy them more often now!

The breading on these pork chops looks delicious! My husband and I actually eat a lot of pork, especially thin cut, bone-in chops. They are yummy on the BBQ or cooked in BBQ sauce in the oven on low heat. I haven’t made breaded pork chops in a while, but this recipe is definite inspiration to make them again!

Too bad I don’t have a BBQ. Boo. I would love to try the BBQ sauce one, thanks for the inspiration!

My family would definitely love this lunch idea, Cathleen. I will definitely prepare this dish for them. What kind of milk do you usually use?
atasteofmadness
I usually use 1% milk, but any kind works well!

Kind of reminds me of schnitzel, I bet this tastes great, and is healthier than fried.
atasteofmadness
It reminds me of that too, but tastes a lot different. Good different though 🙂
