Pecan Squares

These are the best ever Pecan Squares. Made without corn syrup and with whole wheat, these are healthier than your average pecan squares.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup salted butter

Pecan Topping

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2/3 cup salted butter
  • 3 Tbsp milk
  • 3 1/2 cups pecans, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Lightly spray an 11×7 baking dish.
  • Combine flours, icing sugar and 3/4 cup butter in a food processor and pulse to mix until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.
  • Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Let cool.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the brown sugar, honey, 2/3 cup butter and milk, and allow to boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in pecans. Pour mixture over crust.
  • Bake at 350˚F for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
