Chess Board Cake

This Chess Board Cake is the perfect recipe for birthdays, anniversaries or any special occasion. Made with chocolate chess pieces.

Ingredients

Cake

  • Chess Board Chocolate Candy Mold (see notes)
  • Chess Pieces Chocolate Candy Mold (see notes)
  • 12x12 Square Cake Pan (see notes)
  • 2.5-3 cups dark chocolate candy melts
  • 2.5-3 cups white chocolate candy melts
  • Your favourite cake recipe, doubled. (see notes)

Chocolate Frosting

  • 2 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 6 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp salted butter, softened
  • 5 Tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate and place in the chess board molds. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes, and repeat until you have 32 black squares, 32 white squares and all of your chess pieces.
  • Place the chocolate in the chess pieces molds. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes and repeat. To connect the chess pieces, place some melted chocolate in between the flat sides and press together.
  • Mix together the ingredients for your cake, and bake in the oven at 350˚F for 40 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool. When the cake is cool, take a serrated knife and level the cake.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate frosting ingredients until fully combined. Frost the cake, and arrange the chocolate chess board pieces on the cake, and place the chocolate chess pieces on top. Enjoy!
