Chili Con Carne

This Chili Con Carne recipe is one of my favourites! Alter the amount of chili powder to your taste. Such a hearty and comforting dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 (46 oz) can tomato juice
  • 680 ml tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp chipotle powder
  • 2 cups canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions

  • Place ground beef in a large saucepan. Break the meat up with a spoon or a spatula. Cook over medium-high heat until brown. Drain.
  • Add all the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
