Chili Con Carne
This Chili Con Carne recipe is one of my favourites! Alter the amount of chili powder to your taste. Such a hearty and comforting dinner.
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 (46 oz) can tomato juice
- 680 ml tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 cups onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp chipotle powder
- 2 cups canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Place ground beef in a large saucepan. Break the meat up with a spoon or a spatula. Cook over medium-high heat until brown. Drain.
Add all the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
