Talk about fluffy cookies.
Looking in my fridge, I see two tubs of sour cream. TWO! One almost empty, and growing something green and smelly that I can pretty much assume is one of Shrek’s offspring. But the other one: barely used! Almost about to expire. Well call me waste-nothing queen, I’ve got to use this stuff! (although, of course, I wasted what was left of the first sour cream tub. Hey, I’m not perfect)

Whenever I have some kind of miscellaneous ingredient that I need to use, I make cookies. It’s always the excuse. “no, I’m not making cookies because I’m a sugar and dessert freak fanatic, it is because I need to use up *insert ingredient here*”
So if you’re trying to use up your sour cream too, try these Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Even if I don’t need to use up an ingredient..I’m thinking cookies will be on the menu anyways… Well I used some whole wheat flour, it should make up for all this cookie making (please humour me, I will love you forever if you do)
And if you are looking for another recipe to use up your sour cream, try my Layered Apple Coffee Cake.

The sour cream really makes a difference! So good!
One of my favorite cookies!
These are delicious, moist, and rich-tasting. Yum!
Thanks Shelby!
Used lactose free sour cream and even that way was a hit too.
Yay! So happy it was a hit!
Whipped up a batch of these for an afternoon treat and they do not disappoint! Turned out moist, fluffy and sweet; exactly what I needed to cure my sweet tooth!
So glad you liked it!
I wanted to love this recipe but my cookies spread out like a pancake. I tried adding more flour and chilling in the refrigerator but made no difference. I had a wonderful cake like chocolate chip cookie recipe years ago and somehow have lost it. Was hoping this recipe would be its replacement but I guess not.
I’m so sorry that these cookies didn’t work out for you! Did you scoop them using a cookie scoop? I find that using a cookie scoop will help the cookies retain their fluffy shape.
I do not have wheat flour. If usong only all purpose should I just add a cup?
Sorry for the late reply. Yes that would work great!
All the best things, right here!
I’m pretty sure that when I make these cookies, my husband will eat them like it’s his job!
Hahhah, I am the same way :p
i swear i throw away some moldy dairy product at least once a week. one of the few things that doesn’t go in the compost bin! this is a great way to use that sour cream!
Right?? It is so bad! I am all about using it in my baking 🙂
I am amused with the combination of sour cream with chocolate chip cookies. I would definitely like to taste these cookies. Your photography is amazing and it makes me drool over these cookies.
Thank you so much!! The cookies are so pillowy soft, I can’t resist!
Those cookies look fluffy and wonderful!
well at least this time you hv already used almost half of the tub..maybe next time before my sour cream goes expire, i can make these 😀
I think this was a great excuse to make cookies. Whole wheat? All the more reason!
I'm the same way about leftover ingredients. Psh, I'm not making ANOTHER strawberry shortcake because I want to, it's because I have half a liter of heavy cream left…
These cookies look so light and cakey! Yum.
Wow! Sour cream? That is so cool! They look so good.
