Having an abundance of pepperoni in my house doesn’t need to be a bad thing.
I mean, after having this pepperoni pizza for about the umpteenth time this past few weeks, it might be time to switch things up a little bit. Maybe calling back to my university days of having grilled cheese sandwiches for every meal?
I know. I like my thinking too.
I have already made a lot of interesting grilled cheese sandwiches in the past. Examples include my jalapeno popper grilled cheese, my roasted zucchini grilled cheese and, my personal favorite, my kimchi grilled cheese. These have all been made due to having a lot of food in my fridge, and not knowing what to do with it.
And this sandwich isn’t any different.
I feel like you can put anything between two slabs of bread, add some grated cheese, and cook it as a grilled cheese and it will taste amazing. I mean, I have even tried a poutine grilled cheese! The possibilities are endless!
This recipe is super crazy simple, and it is ready under 15 minutes. With only 5 ingredients, this recipe is a no brainer when you have pepperoni in the house that needs using. I made it for lunch, but this could definitely be accompanied by a soup or a salad and had as a quick and easy dinner idea.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make another one of these cheesy, heavenly sandwiches.
This grilled cheese tastes exactly like a pepperoni pizza! This pizza grilled cheese sandwich is ready in under 15 minutes and made with only 5 ingredients.
- 2 slices bread
- 1 Tbsp pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 6 slices pepperoni
- 1 Tbsp salted butter
Spread the pizza sauce on one piece of bread, and sprinkle the mozzarella on top. Evenly space the pepperoni over the cheese, and sandwich the two pieces of bread together.
Butter both sides of the bread, and place the sandwich on a medium skillet. Heat the sandwich on medium heat until the cheese is melty (I like to put a saucepan lid on top to help the process). Flip the sandwich, and heat the other side until the bread is golden. Serve immediately.
